The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) chided Malacanang for obviously trying to douse the public’s curiosity on the meeting between Senate president Franklin Drilon, former senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto, and former president Fidel V. Ramos last Monday night. According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP and is not related with FVR, “the talk between the three is favorable for the anti-Arroyo forces because at the very least Ramos is talking with Drilon who leads the majority Liberal Party block calling for Gloria’s resignation and is closely associated with former president Corazon Aquino and Sotto who represents the FPJ and Erap block which are all-out anti-Arroyo,” “Now if the talk is what Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye is saying as nothing but a move by Ramos to help forge unity behind the good of our nation and welfare of our people and that Malacanang is confident that whatever consensus arose from the meeting will be for the good of the country. It may have an entirely different interpretation as what he wanted to say, because most Filipinos agree that Gloria must go at the soonest time possible and that is indeed a unifying factor as well as good for the nation,” added Ramos. “Bunye should also stop feigning naiveté
of the content of the meeting because as we all know Ramos has threatened
to break away from Gloria on January 1, if she pursues the no election
proposal of the Constitutional Commission in 2007. Drilon would not also
be so jovial yesterday when was asked about the meeting, if its content
were bad for the anti-Arroyo forces or the campaign to oust her. Bunye
is just building Gloria’s confidence and creating a rosy picture,” said
the peasant leader.
