This site has been created with the intention of curtailing the power and influence of organised religion. A tall order, perhaps, but how difficult should it be to convince people that corpses don't spring back to life, that Mohammed doesn't keep half the moon up his sleeve, that Shiva doesn't have six arms, that Krishna can't turn into a lion and back again, that snakes and donkeys don't talk, that corpses don't walk, and that 'God' didn't expose his back parts to Moses?

You'd think it would be a simple matter to demonstrate that unadulterated nonsense isn't truth. In fact it's the hardest job in the world. And the reason it's hard is because people are so pumped full of spiritual garbage that no matter how advanced they become in other spheres of their lives, they remain as primitive savages in their belief structures.

It is our plan to cleanse the planet, to erradicate stupid thinking. The reason our plan stands a chance whereas other such plans have failed is because we shall make the subject of freethought fascinating to the uninformed masses. And we shall make our web site attractive to young people. We shall use sex, horror, humour and free McMuffins to drive our message home. Naturally we shall draw criticism from conservative atheist associations but they tend to preach to the converted, which is not particularly constructive.

Why do we feel the need to attack religion? Because the race is on, either we destroy religion or religion destroys us. The atrocities which took place on September 11th should have been a wake-up call for the world, a wake-up call to extinguish the root cause of stupid, murderous thinking. But as usual the world is content to bomb the symtoms and tolerate the cause.

Below you'll find links revealing some of the greatest writing known to man, but not to all men, nor to all women – far from it. Many of these authors are known only to the few – to the intelligent rationalists and freethinkers of the world. Does that include you? We hope so, and we hope you'll like what we stand for, and that you'll apply for your Knighthood. Unfortunately you won't be known as Sir Bill or Sir Elton, or whatever, but you will be known as a person who matters.

For you to advance through the ranks of the 'September Knights' you will need to familiarise yourself with the work of the honorary Knights. Before you start, I feel I should mention something that has always bothered me about the greatest of these authors. Thomas Paine and Robert Ingersoll speak about "men" achieving" this and "men" achieving" that, but rarely do women get a mention. I'm convinced that this had to do with the style of 18th century writing, plus the fact that it was men who waged war, fought in wars and slaughtered tyrants, (Joan of Arc excepted!).

The attitude was sexist, there's no denying it, but you only have to read what both men wrote about motherhood and the crucial role of women in the family to realise that neither man was chauvinistic. Those of you who go on to read further of Paine and Ingersoll, will, I think, agree with me that two more decent, brave, just, and caring men never existed. But it's fair to say, perhaps in those days, the wider role of women as politicians, soldiers and entrepreneurs was never envisioned. Also worth noting is that Madalyn Murray O'Hair, a 20th century romping, stomping feminist, adopted the same style of writing.

Each writer, listed below, has been made an honourary Knight. We have included a short snippet of writing from each, which we hope you will enjoy. Most people reading this introduction will be unacustomed to such powerful, in-your-face commentary, particularly from dead blokes, such as Thomas Paine, Robert Ingersoll, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Madalyn Murray O'Hair, but that's what makes their work so exciting. I was not exaggerating when I said earlier that one quick glance at this writing could change your whole outlook on life. Priests with a lifetime devoted to the church have been known to walk away from their pulpit after reflecting on these few short paragraphs. This is very powerful stuff!
