Synopsis
So far, the game itself is almost complete, but the storyline is far from that...
Andrew Huang is in charge of the storyline, and he's still working on it...
Ground Zero is a Real-Time Strategy game in 3D. It is one of the first games
in the genre to not be tile-based. This allows smoother motion and better
looking graphics. In addition, the ground is affected by many factors in the
game, including weaponry fire, and tanks driving in sand. For example, if a
tank drives through a beachy area, you can quickly see that someone has
been there, and the game's AI will recognize this too. However, as in real life,
when the water rises, the tread marks are washed away. Other realistic
factors in the game include a global wind factor which affects everything, from
smoke to trees to aircraft. The game engine's LOD tech (Level of Detail) optimizes
the in-game models such that when there are many units on-screen, detail is
decreased, so that there is no noticeable drop in framerate. Additionaly, when
there are few units on the screen, detail is increased.
