EOS, Suji | |||||
Hello there! Just wanted to verify one greylist item and add another... First of all: EOS Kids in Suji As a former teacher I can verify that children were constantly beaten by the director, Cha Taewon (aka Mr. Cha). The man acquired the hagwon through a "buddy" of his who was going bankrupt. Mr. Cha being fresh out of the Marines had no concept of children behavior or how to properly punish. I've sent misbehaving children on a 5 minute time-out out of the classroom. Little did I know until the child returned in tears, that Mr. Cha had seen them, taken them to his office and hit them with a hard, plastic whacking stick. Normally on the palms or back of the hands, but I've seen handprints across children's faces. He likes his money and will do anything to save a buck, even if it means overcharging teachers on their tax (he takes anywhere from 5% to 10% off your pay) not your typical 3.3% - forget about breaks or trying to collect overtime... As well, the curriculum is hideous. I had to create own my ENTIRE curriculum for the kids, because I wasn't "allowed" to use the textbooks they had. On top of it all, he's quite strict about how many photocopies you can make. It's virtually impossible to teach kids EVERY DAY without using copies or textbooks. It may sound like I'm just a bitter buttercup, but I speak the truth. The man is a horrific tyrant. I'm so riled up now about that fella, I'm not going to get into the other school this time around, aside from the brievities: EOS SUWON - liars and manipulators Feel free to put everything I've written here, except for the fact that I ever worked there...he needs to be shut down. Thanks for letting me vent...I feel a million times better. Little Miss Anonymous 12/00 Greg, Please include this in the mother of all greylists for me. First, I am a former teacher at the school. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The 'Director' Mr. Cha...well, I really don't know what to say. I'm not a trouble maker...and was not even going to put my message online as I have now been at another school for some time and have a great director. However, my conscience dictated that I should STRONGLY warn people about this school. In short, the director is arrogant, moody (too polite a word believe me), and will definitely jilt you when it comes to taxes and extra work. I was the longest lasting teacher there...I saw eight teachers (both Korean and english) quit or get fired while I was there (11 months). He would bolt into the class and tell me that my teaching was wrong (in front of students)...change the activity or lesson in the middle of class whenever he felt like it, and finally kept telling me he had ties to the Korean mofia...and several times told me in confidence that he was going to get former teachers (who quit) killed by the mofia. At the end (my last three hours there) I told him to get out of the classroom and that i was tired of his interruptions...he would not move from the door. I completely lost my temper and pushed him out of the door...wrong move for me...he beat me up so badly that I went to the hospital and had a hard time walking and sleeping because I was bruised so badly. The doctor wrote a special report indicating the extent of my injuries and recommended 2 weeks ceasation from work to heal. When presented with the paper he immediately gave me a letter of release, but refused to compensate me in any way for the injuries. I lost 1.8 million won (for leaving a month early), many books due to water damage in the apartment which leaked badly, 200 000 won for a new toilet which he never installed...I could go on and on...just stay away from E.O.S. in Suji...I agree with the other writer--the school needs to be blacklisted, shut down, or the director replaced. Hope you take the time to find a good school...its worth the wait. See you around, Mr. Conscience 10/01 |
