Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido

At present, two groups which practice Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido are known to the author. The Kenshikan Dojo in Melbourne, Victoria, and the Budokan Academy in Canning Vale, Western Australia.

The Budokan Academy provides training in Seitei Gata Iaido, Muso Shinden Ryu, Jodo and the Jishukan system of martial arts (a modern Japanese martial art based on kenpo, jujutsu, judo, hayanawa and jojutsu). The principal of the academy, Ramon Lawrence-Sensei together with Bob Shersby Sensei lead instruction in Muso Shinden Ryu together in WA. For more information on the Budokan Academy visit:

The Kenshikan Dojo is located in Melbourne, Australia. The dojo is owned by the members of the Melbourne Kendo Club, with patronage and assistance from the Otsuka family of Tokyo (with support from the family to promote cultural exchange of Japanese sword arts, related to kendo).

The Kenshikan today houses practice in kendo, seitei iaido, seitei jodo, naginatado, shindo muso ryu jodo and muso shinden ryu iaido. The Melbourne Kendo Club web site at http://home.vicnet.net.au/~kendo/ also provides up to date information on activities.
