Suio-Ryu Bujutsu

One of only a handful of branches of the system throughout the world, Bob Burton Sensei teaches the art of Suio-Ryu Bujutsu at the Sydney Iaido Club. Lead by 15th soke Katsuse-Sensei, Suio-Ryu contains teachings in iaijutsu (sword drawing), naginatajutsu (halberd), kusarigamajutsu (chain and sickle), Jojutsu (short staff), Kogusoku (semi-armoured grappling) and Wakizashi (short sword). Currently an emphasis is on development of sound sword skill firstly through the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei Seitei Iaido Kata (All Japan Kendo Federation Standardised Iaido Forms), which is then followed by practice of Suio-Ryu Iaijutsu. Applicants should have either Zen Ken Ren Iaido or koryu experience.
