I AM YOUR SAVIOUR WHO SUFFERED FOR YOU

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings on this sunny but windy morning! It is getting cooler and the
nights are getting longer which means we are approaching winter. The
trees
are so beautiful at this time of year with all their different colours.
The
prayer meeting had to be canceled in Palmer Road last night as they are
working replacing the carpet in the sanctuary of the Church. They work
late
around here.

During my prayer in the quiet of the early morning, Jesus spoke to me
saying, "Melvin, I love you. Great joy fills my heart as you come to
spend
time with me every day. Today is the feast of St. Luke, one of the
Evangelists, for one of the Gospels bears his name. The Holy Spirit
inspired
him to write both the Gospel and the the Acts of the Apostles. These
are
books that form part of the Bible and they contain 'the Word of God.' I
speak through the Gospels and my words are 'living words.' Every time
they
are read or spoken, it is the same as if they were spoken by me at that
very
moment. Read the Gospels and you will know me and my message. Accept,
dear
friends, this message as coming from me and live according to it. Do
not
pick or choose the parts of the Bible you like and reject what does not
appeal to you. Accept it in its en- tirety for each part is necessary
for
understanding properly the whole message. My Church is the only valid
interpreter of my words. Listen to her and follow what she teaches in
her
official pronouncements. In this way you will live in the truth. The
message
of the Gospels is easy to understand and can be summarized in this way:
believe in me, your Saviour, repent of your sins and come follow me in
my
Church. I am your Saviour who suffered, died and rose again because I
love
you. I bless you all."

We should thank God every day for His Word contained in the Bible. It
is a
precious book which every Christian should read every day. Jesus is at
the
centre of the Bible and this is true even for the Old Test- ament. It
is in
the New Testament that Jesus is revealed. We are given His message
there in
four different accounts. We are also given vivid accounts of His
suffering,
death and resurrection. If we read the Bible with an open mind and with
faith, we cannot but affirm that Jesus is the Messiah, the Saviour. It
is
also stated that He founded His Church on Peter and the other Apostles
and
that it will remain till the end of time. Unfortunately many today are
tampering with the Bible and changing what is written there. They find
that
the Bible is wrong according to their mentality and philosophy. In
their
pride they wish to "correct" God instead of submitting to Him and His
Word.
This is similar to what Martin Luther did. He could not accept the
Letter of
St. James and thought it should not belong to the Bible. No, let us
accept
the whole of the Bible but let us be aware that Jesus perfected the Old
Testament and one example of this is: Love your enemies. In the Old
Testament it was: a tooth for a tooth... Jesus calls us to read a
portion of
the Bible every day. In this way we will often meditate on the Word of
God
and the Word will become part of our life.

Many people are phoning or sending me e-mail and asking for prayers for
sick
people or help in dealing with problems. Please pray for all those who
have
problems and the sick. The evil one is also working hard to destroy
marriages. Pray that all may solve their marital problems and find
peace and
love. May Jesus, our friend and guide, bless us all and give us the
grace
and strength we need to follow Him today.
