STRAIN  TO  REACH  THE  GOAL

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good afternoon! I just arrived from Bloomfield Parish where I celebrated
the Holy Eucharist last evening and twice today. I read to them some of
the paragraphs of the Pope's letter on the rosary. I pray that all will
take up the praying of the rosary as the Pope challenged us to do.

In my prayer this morning, Jesus spoke to me saying, "Melvin, my friend,
I am Jesus who loves you. I bring you this morning to my tomb in the
Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. This is the place where I was
buried after my death on the cross. It has two chambers hewn out of the
rock. The first chamber is that of the angels and the second behind it
is where they laid my body. Melvin, you visited my tomb often when you
were in Jerusalem. My body laid lifeless in that tomb from Friday until
Sunday morning. The authorities had placed soldiers at the tomb to guard
it but when the moment came, a great noise was heard and the soldiers
fled in fright. This was the moment of my resurrection when my dead body
came back to life. I came out of the tomb as the resurrected One never
to die again. I had a resurrected body which means that I can no longer
feel pain or hunger. I cannot be sick or tired. My body is perfect and
nothing can stop it from entering where I want. I can go through walls
made of stone. You, too, my brothers and sisters, will rise with a
similar body if you follow me. I call you to imitate me by striving
daily for holiness. With my help, strain to reach the goal. Love one
another as I have loved you. I bless you."

It is fitting that on Sunday Jesus talks to me about His bodily
resurrection. I went often to His tomb in Jerusalem. In the evening I
would enter the second chamber and pray for about a half hour on the
slab of stone on which they had laid His body. It is also the same place
where the Resurrection took place. This is the great miracle by which
Jesus rose from the dead. The Resurrection shows us without a doubt that
Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah who came to redeem us all. Let us
believe Him with all our heart for He is alive and He is leading us. Let
us work together with Him to reach the goal which is heaven.

May the Lord increase our faith and give us the grace we need to follow
Him.
