COME  TO  MY  CROSS

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good morning! The heat seems to be over for another year. It really
looks like autumn today with the huge clouds rolling across the sky and
the wind blowing from the west. The sun shines now and then between the
clouds.

My mother is back at the manor this morning. She had various tests done
yesterday and after they were over, my cousins and I brought her back by
car to Alberton. She was in good form singing most of the way. Thank you
for your prayers. We expect to get the results of those tests in a day
or two.

In prayer, I was with Jesus on the cross. He spoke to me saying,
"Melvin, come near my cross where I am hanging in terrible agony for
your redemption. I am dying for you and for you all, my brothers and
sisters, who live in every country of the world. Join my mother, John
and Mary of Magdala as they share my pain standing at the foot of the
cross. I thirst. I thirst for your love and devotion. I thirst for your
heart and your friendship. Many have their hearts closed to me and they
turn their backs to me. I am suffering for them today so that they may
become my friends. My brothers and sisters, you who love me and spend
time with me every day, I rely on you to wash my wounds, to wipe the
blood from my face, to bring me food and to help me carry my cross. I
rely on you to do all these things for all my friends who suffer in any
way. I thirst for a deep and intimate friendship with each one of you.
Come today to my cross and see what I have suffered for you. See my
hands and my feet and know that these wounds won for you salvation. They
pierced my heart on the cross and blood and water flowed out to wash you
clean of sin. Believe and be my friends. I love you."

Being Friday I was with Jesus in His pain as He hung on the cross. I
heard again the great cry, "I thirst." This cry was not so much for
something to drink but it expressed a spiritual thirst. It was a thirst
for the hearts of each one of us. He showed us a love that was divine by
dying on the cross to make us His friends. How He thirsts that we love
Him in return! He wants us to contemplate Him today on the cross and see
His wounds. These are glorious wounds for they won the salvation of all
the people of the world. The only thing we have to do is to believe and
confess that Jesus is Our Lord and Saviour. Let us become His close
friends.

May Jesus bless you all.
