Pope's Plea to Pray the Rosary

The Holy Father has asked the world's Roman Catholics to pray the
Rosary
during the entire month of October "for peace, so that the world may be
spared from the wicked plague of terrorism." PLEASE PASS THE WORD.

The last major time something like this happened was when the Feast of
Our
Lady of Victory was established by St. Pope Pius V in 1571 in
thanksgiving
for the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto ON OCTOBER 7, 1571.
In
1961, the title of this feast became: Our Lady of the Rosary.

At dawn on October 7, at Lepanto, the wind and all military factors
favored
the Moslems, but, the wind mysteriously changed to the advantage of the
Christian fleet. At that very moment, at dawn on October 7, 1571 -- as
Vatican Archives later revealed --Pope Pius V, accompanied by many
faithful,
was praying the Rosary in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. From
dawn to
dusk the prayers continued in Rome as the Christians and the Moslems
battled
at Lepanto. When it was all over the Moslems had been defeated. The
Rosary
had won a great military victory!

There are several things here very similar from then and now:

1) Moslems were trying to spread Islam all over the world with
terror/war.

2) It was a conflict between eastern Islamic and western Christian
nations.

3) A coalition of western countries took up the fight.

4) Actually only a few western countries actually fought.

5) There were disappointing delays before the fight took place. 6) The
Christian forces sailed under the banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

7) The Holy Father asked for all Catholics to pray the Rosary for
victory.

8) The victory was total, surprising and attributed to Our Blessed
Mother.

Let's be confident that if Catholics heed the Holy Father's request and
pray
the Rosary this month, Our Lady will again have another even greater
victory.

Let's pray for our President, our country's conversion so we will
please
God, our enemy's conversion and victory against this enemy.

+ + + + + +

Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield. May Your
kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in You.

Psalm 33:20-22

JOHN
