Photos
of real trains
This is
a page dedicated to photographs of real trains. The photos were all taken
by myself. I use a Pentax Espio 738 compact 35mm Zoom camera to take the
pictures. I then proceed to scan the negatives or slides using a Genius
ColorPage Vivid Pro Film Scanner. Currently most of my train pictures were
taken on slide film (Fuji Sensia and some bad experiences with Konica).
The negatives are mostly Fuji Superia. I have used different speed, from
ISO100 to ISO400. In future I will try to use Fuji Sensia ISO100 film as
far as possible, as I feel this film has given me the best results using
the equipment available to me.
I will
put a thumbnail to the left, with a short description and maybe background
info in the column to the right. Click photos for larger views.
I think
it should be mentioned here that this page is under construction, and it
will be so for a significant amount of time. Also, I am not a Web developer,
so my pages are far from perfect, but please feel free to comment if you
see something I can change to improve these pages and make them more useful.
To go to
the photo pages, either select one of the items from the menu at the top,
or click on the picture below.

This
is a page with some photos of Steam Heat Wagons. They logically should
fit under passenger trains, but I decided to give them their own page.... |
|
The
new MLPS color scheme used by Spoornet, is called Shosholoza Meyl. It is
pretty bright, I actually preferred the Blue/Gray scheme. |
|
The
old Blue/Gray Scheme used by MLPS until mid 2001. |
No
page to display YET |
The
old Burgandy/Gray scheme used since long before I can remember. There are
a lot of people that has been around much longer than I have, that will
know of colors used before this. |
|
Some
special train and named train photos. Here you will find one or two pics
of the Royal White train, the Blue Train and Train de Luxe |
|
This
is where you can see some of those everyday yellow and gray stock carrying
the masses to and from work. Also some of the new Stainless Steel stock
for the Cape Town area. |
|
Goods
wagons used by the SAR/Spoornet. This is a VERY wide scope, but I will
attempt to arrange the page in such a fashion as to have the maximum organization
as possible. |
|
Electric
Locomotives of SAR/Spoornet. Here I have pics from the class 5E to the
brand new (as of 2001) class 18Es. |
|
Diesel
Locomotives of SAR/Spoornet. These (along with the goods wagons) are my
main fields of interest. I grew up in the era of these beasts and I like
their square designs. I will try to have as complete a list as possible. |
|
This
section will show pictures of interesting structures and stations. |
