Mother Gumball was formed in early 1994 and started off as Sticks And Bones. The founding members were: Mike Binford (vocals), Chris Mooday (guitar), Keith Keller (drums), Kurt Baumann (bass), Mike White (keyboards) and Chris Mizell (guitars).  Chris Mizell departed June of 1994.  Chris Smith (guitar) joined and the band changed its name to Mother Gumball.

By 1995 the band had estasblished a heavy playing schedule (
as can be seen below), performing 'cover' songs. Mike Binford left the band to pursue career opportunities around September of 1995.  The band took a month off, at which point it was decided to start focusing exclusively on creating original material. By November, Jay West (vocals) had joined In February of 1996 Jay West left and the band recruited Jay Rector (vocals).  In May, 1996 the band entered the recording studio and began work on a demo of original material to be distributed to various record companies.

By July of 1996,  the band had distributed their demo and had accumulated enough original material to play out.

My highlight of that summer of 1996 was opening  for 'A Flock Of Seagulls'  - an established band from the 80's (noteable for the hair-do and early MTV 'heavy-rotation' cycle CLICK HERE if you don't remember them). Their label, Savant Records, was impressed with our demo and was interested in seeing how we performed live. We did well. A 'record-deal' is a long shot.  Not much more came out of Savant Records. Later that year I relocated to Utah.

Mother Gumball
eventually changed its line-up and changed the name to Signal II Noise.  Mike Binford and I are currently in a band called Shake Well...
