Go Tardigrade Go!

January 26, 2001. In the next few weeks the site will become an analysis into tardigrade locomotion. I am a senior at the University of South Carolina in Aiken and in the next week I will begin my research on tardigrades. If all goes well, video and frames of tardigrades will be presented on this site.
Tardigrades are a group of microscopic organisms that currently belong to their own phylum, Tardigrada. They are round, eight-legged creatures also known as water bears or moss piglets, that are known for their ability to go into various stases (such as the tun) in order to survive inclement situations such as lack of food or moisture. I am fascinated by these creatures and I hope you will also share in my fascination as I learn more on these amazing organisms.
My tardigrade research journal.
