Dust piled up on the furniture
beds that go unmade
dishes from yesterday in the sink
just my typical day.
Car that's old and rusty
a cat that's much too fat
a sweet little dog named Nick
grandsons playing out back.
Love songs on my radio
a poem in my heart
photos scattered everywhere
in my life they play a big part.
Old faded cutoff shorts
t-shirt full of holes
barefoot hillbilly Kentucky girl
with a band-aid on her toe.
If I can sit and write
a cup of coffee by my side
I'm happy as can be
it's the way I live my life.
