My name is Shirley Delk Roberts. I was born July 16, 1943 in Casey County, Kentucky. I have traveled around a lot and lived in several different cities, but always found my way back to my beautiful state of Kentucky. I now make my home in Mercer County, Kentucky with my husband Gary who is retired from the U.S. Navy and is  employed by Victor Dana Corporation in Danville, Kentucky..
We share our home with Nick [ a Pom] a never ending bundle of energy, Kitt Katt, our 12 year old cat transported here from southern Georgia, also five, one year old kittens[Gypsy, Little Miss, Looney Toons, Tom, Becky and two Zebra finches, Edith and Archie. Also Moms, the mother of the kittens, but she is an outdoor cat.
I am the mother of six grown children of my own and stepmother to Gary's five. Between us we have 10 grandchildren.
I have loved writing as far back as I can remember and spend my spare time writing poetry, short stories and some fiction. I am currently working on a fiction novel called 'Full Circle' that I hope to have finished this summer. I also have a few other projects going on with other people. I had a poem called 'Back In Black'  published in the 2002 Nov/Dec Angry Issue of  'Life Imitating Arts' magazine, a short story published in July 2003 Special Edition of 'Good Old Days' magazine called 'Blackberry Picking Time' and a poem published in 2005 in Birds and Bloom's Daily Planner called' Painted Poetry.'
I have several others out there being considered for publication, and oh yes, I have had my share of rejections, but I never let that discourage me or stop me from going forward. I love to write too much to let a few rejections get me down. The key to getting something out there on the market is persistence. When you submit and it comes back, just turn around and send it somewhere else. Sooner or later someone will like your work.
This is the layout ' Birds and Bloom '  did for my poem in their 2005 daily planner. I am proud and very honored to be featured in this well known garden magazine.
