This is a picture of the only Goddess of the Silverscreen: Greta Garbo. I actually have this picture of her framed and on my altar. I chose this picture to represent the Goddess in all of my magick workings. It is very easy for me to invoke the goddess when I have Greta's picture as a visual aid, so to speak. It doesn't really matter HOW you picture the Goddess, she appears to each person differently. But I wanted to share MY image of the Goddess, the Earth Mother, the All Protector. She sends you blessings.

Goddess Purification Bath

In preparation for a purification bath, attain a peaceful state of mind. Usually, you would want to take a shower and cleanse with soap before the bath. Take your time and be calm.
Using hyssop or other purifying herb, put a healthly handful into your palm and add to about a pint of water in an enamel pan. Heat on the stove top, or even better, over a small campfire outside. Stir with a wooden spoon, as the leaves swirl in the water, gaze upon them and inhale the fragrance. When the water first begins to bubble, turn down the heat and let it sit for a few moments. Strain the liquid into the bath. As you pour the water, say:
"Isis, glorious Goddess,
Lady of Green Herbs,
Cleanse me of all impurities,
Wash me with your life,
Free me of the clutter that clings to me.
Make me pure to walk your paths."

Enter the tub and soak, completely emerging yourself. Purification baths are enhanced by sunlight and candlelight. Whenever you are feeling too cluttered spiritually or having emotional issues, it helps to take a hyssop bath to restore some of your inner balance. Hyssop is particularily drying to the skin, so it would be a good idea to use some oil or lotion afterwards.

Isis Cleansing Ritual

Lying on green grass or a beach bathed in sunlight or moonlight provides a perfect light cleansing. The earth below you will ground any negativity, and the sky above will cleanse you.

"I stand pure in the light of Isis
Your light flows within me and through me.
The light of Isis flows to my forehead;
Let my mind be cleared.
The light of Isis flows within my throat;
Let my voice be true.
The light of Isis flows within my heart;
Let my soul be loving.
The light of Isis flows within my stomach;
Let my instincts be right.
The light of Isis flows within my loins;
Let my desires be holy.
The light of Isis flows within my legs;
Let my travels be blessed.
The light of Isis flows within my feet;
May my placement be just, and my footsteps
Forever welcome in the holy places.
The light of Isis flows within my hands;
May my works be pleasing to you, Isis.
Abide with me Isis;
Let me live within the glory of your Light
Forever and ever."

Shrine Dedication

Creating your own temple is fun and very spiritual. After you've created it, you should purify your altar, or each object on it. Keeping fresh flowers on the altar is also a wonderful dedication to the goddess. The following dedication is to Isis, but you can dedicate your altar to any goddess that speaks to your heart.

"Come to your house, Great Isis,
Come to your house.
Your sacred objects are prepared and await
You here in your house, the Holy House of Isis.
Come to your house, Holy Isis, Come to your house.
The shrine doors are open,
I await your presence in Your shrine,
The Holy Shrine of Isis.
Come to your house Great Lady, Come to your house,
Great Goddess!
Your Priestess calls to You, come to your house!"

Repeat until you can feel the Goddess' presence everywhere.
"The Glory of Isis is present.
The Power of Isis is present.
The Love of Isis is present.
The House of Isis lives!
May your Priestess always find you here,
Here, in the House of Isis.
May your Priestess always know You abide,
Here, in the House of Isis.
May your Shrine always glow with Your Glory.
May your Shrine always sing with your Energy.
May your Shrine always emanate with your Great Love.
Here in the Shrine of Isis.
Here in the Shrine tended by your Priestess.
Here in the House of Isis!
Abide in your House Isis!
Abide in your House!
Blessed be."

Healing Prayer

"Isis, Glorious Goddess,
You of the Healing Winds,
World Mother, Wound-mender,
Breaker of the chains of pain,
You who hold the world in the palm of your hand
Heal from me, heal through me,
Heal by me, heal for me,
All Glory to You, Holy Isis!"

The Charge of the Goddess

Now listen to the words of the Great Mother,
Who was of old also called among men Artemis,
Astarte, Athene, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite,
Cerridwen, Dana, Arianrhod, Isis, Bride,
And by many other names.
At her altars, the youth of Lacedaemon in Sparta
Made due sacrifice.

Whenever ye have need of any thing,
Once in the month,
And better it be when the moon is full,
Then shall ye assemble in some secret place,
And adore the spirit of me,
Who am Queen of all witches.

There shall ye assemble,
Ye who are fain to learn all sorcery,
Yet have not won its deepest secrets;
To these will I teach things that are
As yet unknown.

And ye shall be free from slavery;
And as a sign that ye be really free,
Ye shall be naked in your rites;
And ye shall dance, sing, feast,
Make music and love, all in my praise.
For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit,
And mine also is joy on earth;
for my law is love unto all beings.

Keep pure your highest ideal;
Strive ever towards it,
Let naught stop you or turn you aside;
For mine is the secret door which opens
Upon the land of youth,
And mine is the cup of wine of life,
And the cauldron of Cerridwen,
Which is the Holy Grail of immortality.

I am the gracious Goddess,
Who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man.
Upon earth, I give the knowledge
And beyond death, I give peace, and freedom,
And reunion with those who have gone before.

Nor do I demand sacrifice;
For behold, I am the Mother of all living,
And my love is poured out upon the earth.

Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess;
She in the dust of whose feet are
The hosts of heaven,
Whose body encircles the universe.

I who am the beauty
Of the green earth and the white moon upon
The mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.

For I am the soul of nature
that gives life to the universe.
From me all things proceed and unto me
they must return.
Let My worship be in the
Heart that rejoices, for behold,
All acts of love and pleasure
Are My rituals.

Let there be beauty and strength,
Power and compassion,
Honor and humility,
Mirth and reverence within you.
And you who seek to know me,
Know that the seeking and yearning
Will avail you not,
Unless you know the Mystery:
For if that which you seek,
You find not within yourself,
You will never find it without.

For behold,
I have been with you from the beginning,
And I am that which is attained
At the end of desire.
