And Then, There Was Chaos...

Part 3

Duo ran screaming through the chapel as he heard another shot fire from behind him and the vase on the table he was running past exploded into a million pieces.

Behind him, Heero dropped the empty clip and reloaded his gun. Why couldn't he hit him? He didn't know. Maybe it was because Duo was dodging and changing direction every five to ten seconds. Oh well. He's still going to die.

"Heero, stop!" Relena yelled breathlessly as Heero finished loading his gun and fired another shot, causing Duo to yelp and jump around another corner. She didn't know how much longer she could keep going on like this. She was already out of breath, and her body was aching from chasing Heero for the past, what, day or so? She didn't know. She didn't care. She just had to stop him from killing Duo so the wedding could go on as planned.

Hilde was getting downright pissed. She had no idea what was going on or why her Maid of Honor was chasing the Best Man who was trying to kill her fiancé. She stopped running and turned around, intending to cut Duo off at the entrance to the chapel.

Just as she got to the door, Duo came running around a corner, followed by Heero and then Relena. Heero hadn't yet spotted her, so she opened the door and motioned for Duo to run inside. When he did, she ran inside as well and slammed the door shut behind her.

"Thanks babe...I...owe ya' one..." Duo panted as he slouched over, holding his chest and gasping for air.

"No Duo, you don't owe me anything if you turn around and march your stupid ass up to that alter over there and get on with the ceremony before I kill you!"

Duo winced at the dangerous gleam in her eye. Never mess with the bride on her big day, he thought. He turned and headed for the altar, noticing that Quatre and Trowa were already standing there with the Priest.

"Why are you guys just standing in here?" Duo asked.

"Are you kidding? We could have been shot if we went out there!" Quatre said shakily.

"What about the Best Man and the Maid of Honor?" the Priest asked.

"Forget it, we don't need them. We have two witnesses, and I doubt they're going to try to kill the groom, so let's just get this over with and sort this all out later." Hilde ordered as she marched up the isle.

The Priest took a deep breath. "As you wish."

Heero turned the corner only to find that Duo had disappeared. He had only a moment to think before Relena tackled him and knocked the gun out of his hands. He cursed himself for letting her disarm him and scrambled to his feet.

As he reached for the gun, he was knocked forward and then dragged by the arm down the hall. Relena opened a door and practically threw him inside, locking the door behind her to make sure he didn't leave, although the lock wouldn't have mattered much if he really wanted to get out of there.

He knew immediately that they were in Hilde's dressing room. There was a beautiful vanity and a fancy couch in the room, along with plenty of other furniture you'd only find in a woman's dressing room.

He turned to face her. "Get out of my way Relena!" he yelled.

She eyed him carefully, trying to find the right way to approach the situation. "Heero, I'm not engaged to Duo. I never was."

He paused, blinking a few times as if to clarify what he'd heard. "But...the tabloid said-"

"Since when do you believe what a tabloid says?" she yelled back impatiently.

He glared at her. "Since when does Duo get down on one knee and kiss your hand?"

She thought for a moment, but couldn't find anything to say that wouldn't seem like a lie.

He tried to walk past her only to be shoved backwards onto the couch. She climbed on top of him and straddled him again.

"If I were engaged to Duo, would I do this?" she asked as she kissed him in the softest way possible. His body stiffened. No. Not this again. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her up.

"Stop it."

"Why?"

He eyed her carefully. She looked completely sincere. Her face seemed almost sad for some reason, and her eyes were shining with that truth and beauty he was used to seeing. She couldn't be lying. She never lied. Especially not to him.

"Are you...are you in love with Duo?" he asked dejectedly.

She answered in her most soft and soothing voice. "No."

He was relieved. "Are you engaged to him?"

She shook her head. "No, Heero. I'm not engaged to anyone. And besides, Duo's engaged to Hilde, and they're probably getting as we speak."

He was confused. "But...how? The pictures..."

"I don't know how," she answered honestly, "but I do know that I kissed you and you didn't seem to mind."

His eyes widened a bit. She's right. After several moments of debating with himself, he reached up without a word and pulled her down to him, kissing her again. It didn't take long for their current position to put impure thoughts in his head.

"Relena, if you don't get off me right now, I'm not going to be able to move."

She blushed, remembering her dreams. "Then don't move."

He looked up at her and she grinned back at him, grabbing his hands and placing them on her breasts.

"I believe we have some unfinished business to take care of..."

"You may now kiss the bride." The Priest said as he finished up the ceremony. Duo looked at Hilde and practically melted at the adoration and love he saw gleaming in her eyes. Sometime during the ceremony he had forgotten that Heero was trying to kill him and focused completely on the beautiful woman standing next to him. He turned to her and put his hands on her shoulders, then yanked her toward him and grinned.

"Does my baby want a kiss?" he teased, his eyes gleaming devilishly.

"If you're baby doesn't get a kiss then you're not gonna have a very fun honeymoon," she smirked. Upon her threat, Duo gave Hilde a kiss that started off sweet but ended up having to have Quatre and Trowa pry the two of them apart.

"I love you, Hilde-babe." Duo whispered in her ear.

Hilde giggled. "I love you too, Duo. You big, dumb idiot."

"So what do you think happened to Heero and Relena?" Quatre asked as he and Trowa waved goodbye to Duo and Hilde driving off in their limo.

"I don't know for sure," Trowa replied, "but I have a feeling that Relena succeeded in calming Heero down, considering he never showed up at the ceremony."

Quatre sighed. "Yeah, I guess you're right." They both turned to go back into the chapel to help the Priest clean up the mess left behind by the wild chase from earlier.

~~At the same time~~

Relena was just about finished buttoning her shirt. "Never thought I'd do that in a church." She said quietly, blushing as she began brushing her hair.

"Neither did I." Heero responded as he pulled his shirt back on. "What possessed you to do it?"

She looked at him out of the corner of her eye, then looked out back at the wall. "Oh nothing. Just a little something I needed to say, I guess."

He looked over and saw her get up and turn to him.

"Any hope of a repeat?" she asked.

"Absolutely." He answered before going over and wrapping his arms around her. "But only if we elope."

She pulled back and looked at him, shocked. "Wha-what?"

"Marry me. Right now, In this chapel."

She was astonished. "But...why now?" She had no idea where this had come from.

"Relena, when I thought you were marrying Duo I tried to kill him. I couldn't stand the thought of someone else having you when I wanted you." He paused a moment. Was he really doing this? "If I don't marry you right now I might go crazy. I want everyone to know that you're mine." His face hardened. She knew that look. That was the 'I'm not taking 'no' for an answer so don't give me any crap' look that he gave her whenever he told her not to do something that he considered dangerous. Like walking around alone at night.

She thought briefly about the stack of papers waiting for her back at the office, along with the meeting she had later that week with the annoying ambassador from former-China. Well, this is what I wanted isn't it?

She sighed. "Yes. Yes, Heero, I'll marry you. Right now, in this chapel."

He leaned forward and kissed her to cover up the cursed smile he couldn't seem to control.

Then the door opened and both he and Relena glanced to the side to see Quatre and Trowa walking in.

"So that's how she did it." Trowa said calmly, ignoring their controversial appearance.

Quatre blushed profusely and said, "Should I tell the Priest that there's going to be another ceremony?" he asked, intending it as a joke.

Relena looked back at Heero. "Actually, yes."

Quatre and Trowa's jaws would have hit the floor if it were physically possible.

"And while you're at it Quatra, would you mind calling Judge Lenton and telling him to write up another marriage license? Tell him it's for me and he'll do it. Have him fax it here as soon as possible. The sooner we're married, the better. No man is safe until we are."

Quatre was a bit puzzled but agreed after glancing at Heero, who had a gleam in his eyes like a wild animal about to fight off someone trying to rival him for his mate. Quatre figured that reference couldn't be too far from the truth, considering why Heero wanted to kill Duo in the first place. As he walked down the hall he said to himself, "I had a feeling something strange was going to happen. And now look. Duo is married and Heero's eloping. Strange."

He smiled brightly at his friends' good fortune. Good luck you guys. I hope you all live happy lives, with all the best that life has to-"Umph!"

He was knocked onto the floor by Wufei charging down the hall.

"Where's Maxwell? I'll kill him for his injustice!"

Quatra rubbed his head and saw a familiar tabloid rolled up in Wufei's hand.

Great.
