Mariemaia Kushranada, daughter of Treize Kushranada and Leia Barton, had Relena kidnapped because of her influence as Vice-foreign Minister. She proclaimed herself the future ruler of the earth and space and declared war against the Earth Sphere Unified Nation.
Une said it best when she stated that the seven year old was not fulfilling her father's ideals, just being controlled by her grandfather, Dekim Barton, the planner of Operation Meteor. Dekim wished to continue the operation, which was originally meant to destroy most of the earth, so all would have to move to the colonies.
While Mariemaia took Relena to her stronghold in Brussels, Dekim implemented Operation Meteor. Trowa, Duo, and Heero managed to foil his plans for the second time, but Dekim still escaped with all of his Serpent mobile suits. He rejoined Mariemaia and Relena; while the Serpents faced the gundams, Noin, and Zechs.
While the others fought the Serpents, Heero grappled with Wufei who had taken Mariemaia's side in the conflict. Their fight soon ended, and Heero made his way into Mariemaia's stronghold. As Heero destroyed the fortress's shield- destroying his gundam in the process- Une protected Relena and Mariemaia from falling masonry and then told Mariemaia that what she was doing was not what Treize would have wanted.
The child, believing she had gained victory, began to celebrate, but was halted by a well-deserved slap from Relena. The blonde VFM convinced her of her wrongs, and Dekim fired at Relena. Mariemaia jumped in front of Relena and was hit by the bullet, which paralyzed her.
Dekim was then killed by a nameless soldier, and Heero arrived. He offered to put Mariemaia out of her pain; but, unfortunately, his gun was out of ammunition. Mariemaia is last seen with Lady Une putting flowers on her father's grave.
