JESSIKA'S STORY
Jessika was always a very sweet and loving child. She had hugs and kisses for everyone. She went up to a total stranger one time and gave her a hug when she was about two years old. She had the curlies hair, little blond ringlets. As it grew it straightened out but she always had the little ringlets framing her face. She had big, blue, sparkling eyes that always lit up when she was excited about something. Her daddy had to name her Jessika because his mom had wanted to name her daughter that but his dad said no because everyone would call her Jess. Everyone called my Jessika Jess, including him. Her middle name is the same as mine, Denise, also her daddy's idea. When she was born, she weighed 9 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 1/2 in. long. She was so beautiful. She was in the 1st grade at school. She was just starting softball. She had already played two games. On May 25th she went to practice. While swinging the bat at practice she hit herself in the head. She cried some then got back out there and played some more. No one suspected a head injury, not even her doctor who I called later. She showed no signs. She slept on our couch that night since it was right outside of our room. I woke up in the morning, around 5, to the sound of my husband screaming at her to wake up. But it was too late, she was already gone. Seven years old and gone to heaven. I miss my little girl so much. If any of you read this and your child plays softball or baseball, please make sure they wear helmuts. Jessika could not have hit herself too hard but it was hard enough to cause bleeding on the inside and outside of her brain. |

The teddy bears are for Jess because she was going to decorate her new room with teddy bears. The cross is because she loved going to church. |

I picked a panda bear because we took her to a flea market the first weekend of May and gave her five dollars. She bought a panda bear for her teacher. |
