NEWSLETTER
Updated:  APRIL 3, 2002

Welcome to April!  Why do my newsletters seem to be accompanied by some sort of snow blizzard!  Regardless, I remain optimistic that the spring-like weather is on its way.  Spring always brings with it some sort of “new beginning” flavour to our lives, doesn’t it?  Yeah, yeah, yeah.  Well anyway - this newsletter is also one day early this week to facilitate the opening of the ReelWorld Film Festival on Thursday.  Be sure to check out the many films and events at FULL MOVIE SCHEDULE.

This newsletter is designed to welcome all the new members, give you some updated entertainment-related news and provide you with our upcoming event listings.  Welcome to those who are new members.  I will also highlight events for the next 10 days so click on WEEKEND EVENTS for events happening this weekend and NEXT WEEK'S EVENTS for the upcoming week’s events!

LANGFIELD ENTERTAINMENT NEWS!

Well, after a long search, I have finally decided on a logo!  Great news for me - this process has taken me longer than I would have imagined but thanks to the graphic design skills of someone that came highly recommended, I’ve settled on this one!  Feedback is welcome!  Stay tuned for my new website – I know I’ve said that before but I’ve resorted to designing one myself now!

4.         RAPUMENTARY “Raisin’ Kane” TO BE XPOSED – APRIL 6, 2002

A s
eries of live music events and film screenings to showcase the Canadian urban music scene has landed.  2Bscene Film Releasing and Universal Music present a unique hip-hop music and film road show celebrating the Canadian urban music scene. This event will consist of two elements that reflect the breadth of urban music expression in Canada.  XPOSED is an open-mic talent search across the country while the “Raisin’ Kane” Tour consists of screenings of the National Film Board’s award-winning documentary, “Raisin’ Kane: A Rapumentary”.  A hybrid of the “Gong Show”, “Popstars” and “Live at the Apollo”, XPOSED, the open-mic competition, will unearth new urban talent across the country. Contestants are invited to rap, rhyme or sing in front of a panel of esteemed industry and celebrity judges, including Universal Music representatives, hip-hop acts such as Concise and Checkmate and MuchMusic producer, Greg "Wonder" Baptiste. Event hosts include MusiquePlus VJ Malik “Versatile” Shaheed and RS Smooth, with DJ Scratch Bastid and DJ Shortcut as two of the supporting DJs.  XPOSED will also feature live performances by urban acts Citizen Kane, Ndidi Cascade and Kaleb Simmonds. The jury and audience will vote on the winner.  For more information, go to www.universalurban.com.
