NEWSLETTER

Updated:  June 20, 2002

WELCOME!  Langfield Entertainment is two years old!!  Thanks so much for all the support you have given me over the past couple of years – yup, it’s my two year anniversary since I designed my first calendar of events at the request of Vondie Curtis Hall, a director in town shooting a feature film in Toronto.  (See details in my COMPANY BIO.)  Special thanks to Michael Anthony Rawlins, director, for going “above and beyond” this past week!

Remember that you now have two options with my site.  1) you can just click on any of the titles of the items listed and it will take you to information for EACH INDIVIDUAL EVENT (this is a NEW feature and easier to print out for the event that you want) OR 2) CLICK HERE for the COMPLETE newsletter!

This newsletter is designed to welcome all the new members, give you some updated entertainment-related news, recap some of last week’s events and provide you with our upcoming event listings.   Welcome to those who are new members.  I will also highlight events for the next 10 days so click on EVENTS.

Vondie Curtis Hall and his amazing assistant, Raye Dowell – two of the people responsible for inspiring me!

DAPP THEORY FEATURING ANDY MILNE

"My music is an expression of my experiences as a man, transformed into sound", says Andy Milne of his unique jazz style.  While I’m not a die-hard jazz officiando, I do recognize talent when I hear it.  I originally went to hear these guys as our Rich Brown had talked so much about this project.  I ended up leaving with a new respect for the genre of jazz.  The band consisted of Andy Milne, Rich Brown, Sean Rickman and Gregoire Maret.  Some of you may have met Sean Rickman when he was in Toronto while touring with Me’shell N’degeocello.

MOLLY JOHNSON

Well, this smoky songtress does it again.  And the band was absolutely kickin’!  The band featured Andrew Craig, Mike Downes, Colleen Allen and Mark McLean.  Standing ovation from the people who faired the weather at Harbourfront on Saturday.  If you don’t know, Molly has a new CD out entitled “Another Day”, available in stores now!  Definitely worth adding to your collection!

DA REAL DEAL – TORONTO’S FIRST URBAN MUSICAL PERFORMED BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH

Roze Jardine took the ACT OUT initiative a step further and wrote the urban musical, Da Real Deal and cast the youths whose lives the play mirrors.  Da Real Deal will entertain and enlighten people from all communities about such topics as the increasing severity of HIV/ AIDS, homosexuality, teen pregnancy, healthy sexuality, relationships, suicide and violence.
