Homemade Horse Cookie recipes!
1) EASY HORSE COOKIES

1 cup carrot grated
1 apple grated
2 Tablespoons corn oil
1/4 cup molasses
1 tsp. salt
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly grease cookie sheet.
In a large bowl, mix CARROT, APPLE, CORN OIL and MOLASSES together.
Then fold in SALT, OATS and FLOUR until well mixed.
Spread dough out in one big piece on the cookie sheet.
Score dough with a knife to make it easier to break apart after baking.
(Or try rolling dough out and cutting shapes with cookie cutters)
Cook for 20 minutes or until brown.
Let cool, break apart and serve.

2)EASY NO COOK BRAN SNAPS

4 cups BRAN
4 cups APPLESAUCE

Mix ingredients together.  Batter should be doughy.  Roll out with a rolling
pin and cut shapes with cookie cutters.  Let dough dry and serve.

3)OATMEAL BARS

2 cups dry oatmeal
3/4 cup grain
3 cups bran
1 cup molasses

Mix oats, grain and bran together in a bucket. Drizzle in molasses while mixing with your hands - you're looking for a consistency a little thinner than Play-Doh. Place dollops (about half a handful) on a cookie sheet and bake at 375º for ten minutes. These have a tendency to burn. They never get completely hard, but they store nicely. You can spread the mixture in a pan and cook it like bars, but only in a greased pan.

4)HONEY APPLESAUCE COOKIES

1/4 cup oatmeal (dry)
1 handful of sweet feed
2 spoonfuls applesauce
1 spoonful honey or molasses
1 handful Cherrios
4 sugar cubes
a pinch of brown sugar
½ cup water (one half cup)

You can mix this right in your horse?s feed bucket. Mix the oatmeal with the water. Add sweet feed and applesauce. Stir together. Add the Cheerios, brown sugar, and honey or molasses. Mix again and place sugar cubes on top. This serves one horse.

5)OATMEAL CARROT COOKIES

1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons corn oil
1./4 cup water
1/4 cup molasses

Mix ingredients in a bowl in the order listed. Make small balls and place on cookie sheet sprayed with vegetable spray oil. Bake 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

6)APPLE HORSE COOKIES

1 cup margarine
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup bran
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced apples
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
2 eggs

Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, bran and baking soda. Blend into creamed mixture. Stir in oats, carrots, and apples. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove and cool. Makes about 4 dozen.

1 cup of bran

8) PEPPERMINT COOKIES

1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
1/2 (one half) cup wheat germ oil
1 cup water
1/2 (one half) cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 apple, peeled
2 large carrots, finely chopped
2/3  cup dark molasses
10 peppermints, crushed

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl, and bake until crispy and dry. Horses love 'em and so do humans!!

9)BROWN SUGAR COOKIES

4 cups wheat flour
3 cups oatmeal
1 egg
4 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 cup applesauce
4 tablespoons oil
1/2  cup molasses
1 cup hot water

Bake at 300 degrees on a greased cookie sheet.

Mix flour, oatmeal, and brown sugar in VERY large bowl. Then add egg, oil, applesauce, and molasses. Finally, add hot water and mix well. I normally remove any jewelry and just reach in to mix like bread dough. Stirring with a large fork or spoon is too hard on my arms. Roll out the dough to one half inch thick on floured surface, and cut out shapes or press into the cookie sheet. Bake 45 to 60 minutes. Turn off oven and cut with a pizza cutter into squares and let cool in the oven overnight.

10)APPLESAUCE RAISIN COOKIES

1 1/2 pint (or 500 ml) of molasses
1 jar of applesauce
1/2 c. of corn or veggie oil
8 c. of large flake oatmeal

1/2 c. of salt
1 1/2Tbsp. of baking soda
2 lbs. shredded carrots
10 c. of whole wheat flour.

Preheat oven to 350 F

Mix it all together and check for "cookie" consistency in the dough.
Grease cookie sheets (with the molasses this is really important),
Drop by large horse sized spoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes.

15)CARROT AND APPLE HORSE COOKIES

1 cup sweet feed
2 cups bran
1 cup flax seed
4 large carrots, shredded
1 cup molasses
½ cup brown sugar (one half cup)
1 cup applesauce

Mix molasses, brown sugar, carrots and applesauce in one bowl. In another mix the dry ingredients. Slowly combine the molasses mixture with the dry ingredients. Add only enough molasses mixture to form a thick dough, add more bran if necessary. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Using a tablespoon, drop batter onto cookie sheet and flatten slightly to form portions about the size of a silver dollar. Bake at 300 degrees for about 1 hour. Flip and bake for an additional 45 minutes until they are dried out. Keep checking to make sure they don't burn.

16)WHOLE WHEAT HORSE COOKIES

1 cup all wheat flour
1/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup horse's favorite grain
1/4 cup molasses,
approximately 1/2 cup (or less) water

Mix flour, grain, and molasses together. Stir in water until you have a thick dough. Make into golf ball sized amounts. Place on cookie sheet. Bake in pre-heated oven (350 degrees farenheight) for 10-15 minutes

1 shredded carrot
1/3 (one third) cup molasses
1/2 (one half) cup sweet feed

1/2 (one half) cup cob grain or cracked corn

Core the apples, removing as much of the center as possible. In a large bowl, mix the carrot with the bran, molasses, sweet feed and cob grain. If necessary, add more molasses. The mix should have a stiff consistency. Scoop the mixture into the cored apples and garnish with carrot top. Serve in feed bucket.

20)QUICK CAKE

4-5 cups dry oatmeal
2-3 cups applesauce
2 eggs
1/2 (one half) stick of butter

In a huge bowl, combine the following
4 quarts sweet feed

3 apples, chopped (optional)

1 jar molasses
1 jar Karo corn syrup
5 eggs
2-3 cups corn oil
2 tablespoons baking powder

Add flour and water, alternating until you have a cake like batter that
is very chunky.

Spray muffin tins with an oil and drop by spoonfuls. They will rise a
little, so don't overfill. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes. Cool
on a paper towel.

Or you may pour batter into a large baking pan (well-greased!) to make cookie bars.
Bake until center is dry and firm (probably 30-60 minutes, depending on your
