Friendship

It’s hard to believe how things seem to work out,

When you think nothing will, and your thoughts fill with doubt.

Too often I’ve seen that scowl cross your face,

The worry and conflict you grab and embrace.

Simple deduction and clues to be found,

We bury our burdens while cases abound.

I watch in amazement as you stare deep in thought.

Deciphering with logic; the criminal is caught.

Certainly our work is dirty sometimes,

But the end results are us solving the crimes.

Speaking for myself I have to suggest,

That working beside you has made us the best.

Your friendship is genuine; your concern is clear.

You comfort when needed, suppressing my fear.

Should a time follow when you wont be there,

I wanted to tell you how much I do care.

Thanks for the patience, and thanks for the hand,

That you’ve always extended to help me to stand.

For the knowledge I learned, and courage I gained,

Teach me not to underestimate the friendship sustained.
