JS poem #1

Your Secret Admirer

Crazy things happen with the lives that we lead,

Strangers, then partners, then friends.

We struggle each day and somehow succeed.

Together through all of life’s bends.

The one I depend on through good times and bad.

Never underestimating each other.

Able to see through the troubles we’ve had.

You’re my friend; surely my brother.

We have a great instinct and know our next move.

We speak without saying a word.

We capture the bad guys, with nothing to prove.

They think our methods are absurd.

I hear their jealousy when they talk of you and me.

You’ve always been there, by my side.

They’ll never know the closeness.  Their eyes cannot see.

I’m not ashamed.  I have nothing to hide.

Your fist cannot hurt me, your words cannot scar.

Things done cannot change you and I.

Inside and throughout, I really know who you are.

Any problems we’ll fix and get by.

Like a piece of my soul that stands by me true.

Through all of our work and our play.

I had to tell you honestly how much I admire you.

You’re a true friend the rest of my days.
