PIKES PEAK!
Possibly the most terrifying drive up a mountain ever....
Patti in a Senior Picture-esque moment
This picture lost its humor when I shrunk it.  I am pondering the road sign that says "Big Foot Xing" and Patti seems to see something terrifying in the distance.....
Beautiful views from up on top of Pike's Peak, the highest point in the Rockies.  13,000 feet or so I think, we all got really light headed up there and it was FREEZING and we obviously weren't dressed for it at all but still totally worth it!
So I said the drive was scary, here is the proof.  This is a 2 lane road, I kid you not.  To the right is a cliff, that quite literally goes straight down.  Amy was very careful not to drive too close to it, since it's all dirt and quite able to crumble.  And it's got lots of sharp turns and we had to drive the whole way down in Low gear so our brakes wouldn't get too hot and stop working, eek!
Garden of the Gods
One of the most beautiful spots we went to, and also one of the hottest!
Balanced Rock Here they are!  Patti, Amy, Lindsey, l-r
Us trying our damndest to hold that darn Balanced Rock off Lindsey.  I love playing the nerdy tourist more than words can say....
Some nice guy took this picture of us.  I think it's better than any I took, sigh
Me, Patticake, and Lindsey on our little hike we took and rebelliously <gasp!> climbed the rocks!
And the grande finale.....
Here we are stuck spending the night at O'Hare.  They had big ol' storms so our plane couldn't land until we were forced to put down in Mouline or we'd run out of gas and crash to our fiery deaths.  They didn't want that, so then we waited 3 hours in Mouline on that damned little plane until we were cleared to land in Chicago.  Needless to say, we missed our flight home.  We had to make a new flight arraingment which at least flew us into GR instead of Detroit, but sadly left the next morning at 8am.  We had to take the shuttle to the International Terminal to get any food, which is where I took this pic.  Then we got stuck there, we were cold, couldn't sleep except for when we were warm and charging our cell phones in the bathroom, gross huh?  Worst night ever, but I got to call into work for that day!
