LARP is short for Live Action Role Playing. The name is rather self explainitory. You have a role, and you act it out. LARPing is very similar to improv. You have a character that you are bringing to life. In LARPing, you have a character sheet; a very important piece of paper that has everything fact-wise about your character. Their strengths and weaknesses, their flaws and abilities, even their physical description. Everything else about your character is normally up to you. The stage where you act out your character can be anywhere. Often you have to pretend to be in a location. The GM, or Game Master, will tell you in detail what you should "see". LARPing can be done anywhere. No special lighting or rehearsals are needed. Every one knows what role playing is from the little bit of psycology we learn in school. We are a good daughter, or obedient son, we are the funny friend or the supportive sister. With live action role playing, the roles are taken much farther. In many games, you may choose what kind of character you have. Often with supernatural powers. LARPing lets you step out of the mundane and be more than Becky, the accounting major. You can be Becki, vampire prince of Ascension Parish. The possiblities are endless. |

Also, we don't use dice. We use a complicated system of hand gestures known as Rock, Scissors, Paper. | ||||||
