What we did
For our Senior Exit Project we worked to spread library awareness and

information about the situation the St. Joseph Public Library is in.  Our plan was

to gather information on the situation, do a presentation at Upton Middle School

and Lake Michigan Catholic Middle School, and have the 8th graders do an essay

contest.  We  started out by interviewing board members of the library, St. Joseph

Charter Township, and the City of St. Joseph to gather information from different

point of view.  We then took the information and mad packets for the 8th graders

and a packet for them to take home to their parents.  We then asked them to do

and essay on how a community is affected by a library.  We judged the essays,

gave back results, and announced the top three winners to each school.  We hope

that our presentation inspired them enough to have them talk to their parents about

the funding situation the library is in and maybe they will go to the library more

often.  overall, we hoped we accomplished spreading out awareness about the St.

Joseph Public Library.
