Guest starring Art Garfunkel, who drops by Pauls house after "going to get his license plates". Lots of talking, personal information, guitar instrumentals that hadn't been titled yet, and also features some classic tunes in their first-ever recorded versions, having just been written by Paul, like "Kathy's Song" and "Sound Of Silence"! This is Paul and Art just a few months before they became famous, and is utterly fascinating to listen to. This probably originated from a cassette and does not have superior sound characteristics by ANY means, but this is the best version available and is entirely listen-able. It doesn't matter - it's the words that count on this one, so superior sound fidelity is not needed. Overs PAUL SIMON "SOLO" LIVE IN ILLINOIS 1984 (2 CD SET) QUALITY: A- (soundboard) This is a fantastic one - just Paul & his guitar, no band, awesome set list, and great sound; very airy and comfortable-sounding. Paul is more friendly and open with the audience than I've ever heard him. It's almost like a "Storytellers" show; he talks about the origins of the songs, and his feelings about them. If you already have this one, you should consider upgrading. This set was remastered to make it much better than the (relatively) more common version, which had some hiss, poor equalization, gaps in between tracks, and mistitled songs. The gaps, hiss, and various sonic glitches have been completely removed. It has been entirely re-equalized, and harmonically enhanced. The result is, by far, the best-sounding version available.
