This remake of the 1979 film is stars Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George as George and Kathy Lutz, a family who moves into a old, but nice beautiful looking home, that once belonged to the DeFeo family. The DeFeo family was murdered in there home by one of there son's who claimed voices in the house told him to do it. As for the Lutz family, after they moved in. They soon experienced the same problems as the DeFeo's. I have read numerous reviews of this film and see to common complaints. The movie is not like the original and the characters do stupid things. First off this is a remake and even remakes can't be exactly the same. Otherwise there would be no purpose in making the film. That may have been the best route to go for this film. Secondly, Roger Ebert put it best one time when he stated that we cannot expect characters to make all the right decisions in the film since we don't do that either. I agree with him on that. Now in the case of this film, the characters make just too many wrong decisions. Not to mention that all the moments in the film that are suppose to be scary were easily predictable. The only thing that scared me in the film was the added on special effects by the Wynnsong 15 projection both when the lights went on and off during the movie. This isn't a terrible horror film, it's just not a good one. |
