Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Danny Archer, a South African Mercenary, who learns about a priceless diamond while in prison for smuggling. Soloman Vandy(Dijmon Hounsou), is a Mende Fisherman whose village is overun by rebels and his family his son is taken. He also knows the wheabouts of the priceless diamond sought by Archer. Archer meets Soloman in prison and the two make a deal to retrieve the diamond and find Soloman's son. Jennifer Connelly also stars as Maddie Brown, an American journalist who wants a story on the diamond smuggling in Sierra Leone and wants Archer to help her with it. This is a great film. DiCaprio is very good and so is Soloman. The wonderfully depicts the trouble times that still happen over in Africa today and the story is well written. |
