Charlie Wilson's War
Tom Hanks stars as Charlie Wilson in this true story about a U.S. congressman from Texas that finds a way to aide rebels in Afghanistan to defeat the Soviet army in the mid to late 1980's. This film also stars Julia Roberts, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Terry Bozeman, and Amy Adams. Here is a film with good performances from Hanks, Hoffman, and Roberts, that comes up short. The story itself is interesting. The problem is that the entire is basically conversation after conversation after conversation and became a little repetative. I would enjoy certain conversations, but other times it just became boring. This isn't by any means a bad film or even a average film. It just isn't quite good enough to be worthy of a recommendation.
