The character of Catwoman first appeared in the Batman movies.. Halle Berry takes over the role of Catwoman in this new movie that centers just around that character. Berry stars as Patience Phillips, an artist who works for a cosmetic company. One night she must turn in some of her latest work to her over-demanding boss and overhears a conversation she wasn't suppose to hear. After that she is chased by some security guards and eventally falls to her death. However, she is then transformed and brought back to life as Catwoman. She now has one thing on her mind. Revenge. This movie also stars Sharon Stone and Benjamin Bratt. In a year where Spider-man 2 was one of the best super-hero movies off all-time, this was one of the worst. Halle Berry is one top actresses there is which puzzles me as to why she would do this film. Sure she looks hot in the black leather outfit, but that was about the only good thing in this film. Everytthing else was terrible. I cannot understand the directing style used in this film. Every action was done using was some of the most distasteful and obnoxious background music I have ever heard. Not to mention the fact that I am suppose to actually believe that a women with no means of fighting skills before turning catwoman would now actually be able to fight. Last I checked, fighting is not a skill a cat has. Also, can nobody really not recognize who is wearing the costume. Expecially the cop who is dating Patience. He has a fight scene with her where she even speaks. How could he possibly not know it is her? I also cannot believe how bad some of the dialogue is in the film. It had me cringing in my seat at times it was so bad. I guess every year there are films that are just plain embarrasing. This is defintely one of them. |
