This movie is the third of the Friday franchise. The original Friday was fun and hilarious. Friday After Next had some laughs and no plot. This new film falls in between. Friday After Next once again stars Ice Cube as Craig and his cousin Day-Day(Mike Epps) who are living on there own now in the ghetto in a rundown apartment. It's Christmas time this Friday and everyone is in the spirt. Even the crooks. The film begins with a ghetto dressed Santa Claus breaking in to Craig and Day-Day's apartment and stealing all there Christmas presents and there rent money. The next day Craig and Day-Day get threaten by there landlord if they fall late on there rent. That leaves Craig and Day-Day little time to get there money back. However, as luck would have it, they just got new jobs on the same day. They are working as security guards at a local strip mall. John Witherspoon also stars in this film. Friday After Next is still nowhere near the original Friday. It has some laughs and a little more of a store then Next Friday, but something is just no there. Maybe it is Mike Epps failure to once again be funny. Maybe it is the fact that the robbery is not really thought again until late in the movie. Who knows? All I know is that movie lacks something and keeps it from being a good film. Hopefully they will get it right in Friday After Friday After Next. |
