The Coen brothers latest film stars Tom Hanks as Professor G. H. Dorr, a criminal-mastermind who has developed a plan for the perfect heist. He hires 4 people to help him pull it off. All they have do is build a tunnel from a basement to a vault from a New Orleans riverboat casino.The plan is intact. Only one problem. The basement they need is in a house owned by a little old landlady named Marva Munson(Irma P. Hall). Marlon Wayans, J.K. Simmons, Ryan Hurst, and Tzi Ma also star. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors and usually turns in a great performance 95% of the time. Unfortunately this fell into that 5% zone. Hanks was not on top of his game this time. Luckily the rest of the cast picked things up. I think I laughed every time Wayans opened his mouth. This is not a great film, but had enough laughs that I will give it a recommendation. |
