Kirsten Dunst takes the lead role in this new film by Sophia Coppola. Dunst plays Marie Antoinette, the queen of France back in the late 1700's. Antoinette was married to Prince Louis XVI(played by Jason Schwartzman in this film) at age 15 and became queen at age 19. This film depicts her rocky marrige to Louis XVI and her rise to queen. This film also stars Marianne Faithfull. I enjoyed the performances in this film, expecially from Dunst. The films biggest flaw was that it didn't focus much on Antoinette's downfall as queen. I would have like to have seen more of that. Otherwise this film was a decent biography. |
