I never used to enjoy many of Nicolas Cage's movies. However, lately he is becoming one of my favorite actors. First in Adaptation last year and now in this movie. Cage gives a Oscar-calibar performance as Roy Waller, a con-artist who also suffers from compulsive behaviors and many phobias. In the film Roy teams up with Frank Mercer(Sam Rockwell), who Roy considers his protege, to pull off a big time con job. While in the middle of, Roy gets the biggest suprise of his life when the daughter(Alison Lohman) her never knew he had comes into his life. As I noted earlier, cage is brilliant in this film. I also must give kudos to Lohrman who gives a charming performance as Roy's daughter. Many people will bash this film for it's so-called "one year later" ending. Though there is one comment made in it that I will probably never understand, I still thought it was interesting way to conclude the movie.. |
