The last Mission Impossible movie was perhaps my greatest movie viewing experience ever. I had a private screening(myself and the Flickspicks staff) in a empty 600 seat theatre with 80 inch wide screen. This time around I was in a small crowded theatre where I got the pleasure of sitting in a handicap seat. While the viewing experience might have been worse, the film was still good. Tom Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt or should I say retired agent. Hunt no longer takes on the impossible missions, but instead trains no IMF agents. Hunt is also engaged to his girlfriend Julia who has no clue as to Hunt's real employer. Things get complicated when a IMF agent(Keri Russell) that Hunt trained is kidnapped by a sadistic arms dealer(Philip Seymour Hoffman). Hunt then takes himself out of retirement to take on the mission of getting her back. This film also stars Laurence Fishburne, Ving Rhames, and Michelle Monaghan. This isn't the best Mission Impossible movie as I did like the first 2 better. However, it is still good. The acting is good and the action is fun. The plot is somewhat borrowed from "True Lies", but I liked that film and it works here as well. My only big complaint was the ending which I thought didn't payoff the climax as I expected, but it still worked. |
