Jack Black is a funny actor and has made some good movies. The attempt is not one of his better though. He stars as Nacho, a Mexican priest who has grown up at a Mexican monastary and now takes care of cooking for the oprhans that live there. When his monastary takes a financial hit and he runs out of ingredients to cook with, Nacho puts a on a mask and becomes luchadore(mexican wrestler) to make money. This film also stars Darius Rose and Ana de la Reguera. The problem with this film is there really is no plot. Are they telling me that the best way for Nacho to make money is to wrestle. They monestary can't try and raise it with some sort of fundraiser. Am I also to believe that Nacho, with no wrestling training whatsoever, is able to beat the best luchadore in the country. There is no build up to the big fight at the end and why not get a big name actor to be the big champion luchadore. The film is funny at moments, but for the most part it seems as if Jack Black has taken a step backwards with this film. |
