We Own The Night
Bobby Green(Joaquin Phoenix) is a manager of one of New York's hottest night clubs. He is successful and the job and looks to manager another club possibly in Manhanttan some day. His father(Robert Duvall) and brother(Mark Wahlberg) are police officers. Bobby has never lived up to his father has never lived up to his families expectations and is seen as somewhat of a disgrace. Things get worse for him when a drug operation run by a Russian mafia seem to be linked to his club. After a bust at his club that leads to his brother being shot, Bobby soon finds himself joining the police to save his life and his families. Alex Veadov, Danny Hoch, and Eva Mendes also star. The problem with this film is that its to hard to buy in to it all. Green tries to hide who his family is from everyone involved with this business. Are we to believe that no one, not even the club owner, would have any clue as to who his family is? Even if they didn't, wouldn't they be curious as to why he never talks about his family? Apparently no one cares. I also had just can't believe that Bobby would, despite the events that happen, would completely give up his love for running clubs and partying and live a life like his brother. This isn't a bad film by any means as the acting was quite good, its just the setup and plot turns that bring it down.
