Max Bialystock(Nathan Lane) is a well-known broadway producer. However, his luck has gone south and his shows are now closing on opening night. Leo Bloom(Matthew Broderick) is Max's accountant. While sorting through the numbers of Bialystock's recent broadway failure, Bloom realizes that if a broadway producer raises for far more money then a play costs to make, the over whelming surplus could be pocketed. Max immediatley makes the idea a reality and the two set out to produce the biggest broadway flop of all time. This film also stars Will Ferrell, Roger Bart, and Uma Thurman. The musical numbers in this film are enjoyable and the story is good, but I just felt like something was missing. It seemed at times that the film tried to be to overly funny and came off stupid. There were numerous times where this occured. It 's because of this I just can't bring myself to give this film a recommendation. |
