Don Cheadle stars as Dr. Alan Johnson, a dentist who runs into to an old college roommate named Charlie Fineman(Adam Sandler). Charlie lost his family in the September 11th attacks and has yet to recover from it. Johnson then tries to help Charlie cope with this grief, but at the same time cause problems in his own life. This film also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Donald Sutherland, Liv Tyler, Robert Klein, and Saffron Burrows. I liked this film for a while and probably would have like it overall had it not dragged on so long. This film was like a popcorn seed that just wouldn't pop. We all know that Fineman is eventually going to open up about his grief, but why drag it on an hour and a half before that finally happens. The film then tries so create a subplot with Johnson's marriage problems and yet doesn't do anything with it. This film works for a while, but it just waits to long hit the boiling point. |
