This sequel to the classic original film went straight to video and probably with good reason. Johnnie Smalls(James Willson) is obsessed with rockets. He shoots them off at a local Sandlot. A sandlot inhabited daily in the afternoon by a new group of guys who have taken over the lot to play baseball. Smalls then steps aside and sort of becomes there general manager. Things get a little rough at the sandlot though when a group of girls want to play. Relucantly they are allowed to join and a baseball team is formed. The film also stars Samantha Burton and James Earl Jones. This film lacks the heart and the passion of its predecesor. There really is no central character this time around and we find ourselves going through the same experences as the first time around. |
