Tobey Maguire returns as Peter Parker in the sequel to the 2002 hit Spider-Man. Parker is now a struggling college student and having problems keeping a job. He also is still very much in love with the one thing he wants more then anything, Mary-Jane Watson(Kirsten Dunst). Unfortnately for Parker, his alter-ego Spider-man keeps him from having a normal life. So Parker decides to give up being the superhero and to never go back to it. However, things change when scientist Dr. Otto Octavious turns into Dr. Octopus(both played by Alfred Molina), threatens the world. This movie is everything you would expect from a superhero movie and more. Director Sam Raimi has combined wonderful and fun action sequences with a great script. I really like how they show how much being a superhero can take out of someone. In movies such as Batman, we never really see that playing into effect. The only thing that really keeps this movie from being one of the best films of the year, besides the fact that Tobey Maguire didn't makes an announcement before my screening of the film, is the villian. The reason for the villian going bad just doesn't work. This was probably one of the most lackluster villians I have ever seen in a superhero movie. Other then that this is a excellent film. |
