Robert Di Nero is a great actor. Like many actors, he attempts to direct a film. He has the pieces for a great film here, but doesn't quite put it all together. Matt Damon stars as Edward Wilson, a member of the Skulls and Bones Society at Yale univerisity who becomes a member of the newly founded CIA. While working to protect his country, he learns sacrifices are needed. First his ideals go. Then his family. This film also stars Robert Di Nero, Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, and Angelina Jolie. The problem with this film is that Di Nero tries to compact 30 years of events into a 3 hour film. That makes it difficult because thats alot of ground to cover and in this case the film just dosen't quite flow smoothly enough. He focuses so much on the first 15 years of Wilson's CIA career and not enough on the last 15 years. Di Nero didn't cut the film in places it needed to be and let the film drag on to long. The film is well written, but is just to long for the point it is trying to get across. |
