Will Ferrell is once again proves he is still one of the funniest actors around in this film. He stars as Ricky Bobby, a Nascar driver, who never loses a race. John C. Reilly stars as Cal Naughton Jr., Ricky's best friend and fellow race car driver, who helps Ricky win races. Things go sour though when French driver Jean Girrard shows up and causes Bobby to have a accident during a big race. Bobby then must muster the courage to get back on the track again. The film also stars Leslie Bibb, Gary Cole, and Amy Adams. This film is filled with a number of laughs. Ferrell and Reilly are histerical. One thing I didn't understand is why the film focused so much on Bobby's relationship with his drunk father. It was meant to be the main side story to the racing and just didn't work at all. The film would have worked better if they would have focused on Bobby's relationships with women. Poor Oscar nominated Adams is pushed aside and really has not impact on the film at all. If you have such a distinguished actress in the film, wouldn't you want to giver her a big part. Also, why not get a big name actor to fill the role of the villain. The villain used in this film is not very good. Despite those flaws, the film has just enough laughs to give a reccomendation. |
