Imagine having the task of promoting a potentially harmful product that kills millions of people everyday. That is what Nick Taylor(Aaron Eckhart) has to do in this new film. He is the chief spokesman for Big Tobacco. His job is simple. Get people to smoke. To do it he has to constantly defend his product on talk shows and and from the government and he is very good at it. He also isn't alone. He meets on a weekly basis with the lead spokeswomen for alcohol(Maria Bello) and the spokesman for firearms(David Koechner) to compare notes. Nick also has the tough task of being a role model for his son(Cameron Bright) while trying not to convince him to take after his business. Donald Sutherland and William H. Macy also star in the film. Eckhart is basically perfect for this roll. His performance is excellent as is Macy in his role. I like the idea of getting a perspective on things from Big Tobacco's point of view. This film is fun, kept me thinking, and is overall done well. |
