Growing up as a child, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory was one of my favorite movies. When I heard they were making a remake of that film, I was wondering if it was really necessary. After seeing this new remake, I feel that it was good idea. This new remake stars Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket. Charlie Bucket is of a poor family and dreams of someday visiting the famous chocolate factory that his Grandpa Joe(David Kelly) used to work at and frequently talks about. Then one day the dream becomes a reality when Charlie finds a golden ticket in a Wonka Bar and one of five kids invited to take a tour of the magical factory. Johnny Depp, Helen Bonham Keller, and Noah Taylor also star. Director Tim Burton is a genius when it comes to visual effects. His visual portrayal of the chocolate factory is quite impressive. I also enjoyed the performances from all the kids in the film. The musical perfomances in the film are also very good. Johnny Depp is a very good actor, but this is only a decent performance for him. Overall this remake is a visual masterpiece and is alot of fun. |
