The Manchurian Candidate
Captain Bennett Marco(Denzel Washington) is your typical war veteran. He served in the first gulf war and ocassionally shares is memories of it with others. There is one thing that troubles him though. He has a repeated nightmare about being in the war that he doesn't remember happening. What could this nightmare be? Marco has gone through psychological help to find out, but figures out nothing. Then when he learns that others he served with are having the same kind of nightmare, he believes something is up. Expecially since all but one other then himself is living and it has only been ten years since the war. Marco believes he and the others he served with were brainwashed following the war. The only other living member he served with is Sargent Raymond Shaw(Liev Schreiber) who is in the running to be Vice President. Now, Marco must make contact with Shaw and that they can uncover the truth of what really happened. This film also stars Meryl Streep, Jon Voight, and Kimberly Elise. This is a very good movie and comes out at a perfect time with the upcoming election. Washington again gives a stellar performance and so does Streep. There are parts of the film that are hard to believe(Note: I don't want to spoil the film, so I won't mention which parts), but for the most part the film worked well.
