The Departed
Martin Scorsese is perhaps the most talented director living. He has brought in countless of great films and this one falls right in with the rest of them. The film stars Jack Nicholson as Frank Costello, the head of an Irish Mafia in Boston. Matt Damon stars as Colin Sullivan, a born criminal that is sent to the police academy by Frank to eventally become a police detective and serve as his rat in the police department. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Billy Costigan, a police officer wannabe whose successfully completed his police training at the academy, but has a family history of criminal acts. That history prevents him from becoming an officer unless he can prove he is loyal. He is then assigned to go undercover and join Costello's mafia as a rat for the police department. Soon both the police and the mafia go to great lengths to determine who is really on there side in both groups. This film also stars Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, Ray Winstone, and Vera Farminga. This film is wonderful. The performances are excellent. Nicholson is at the top of his game here. The sceenplay is great. The dialaogue is well done. I really enjoyed this film.
