Mark Wahlberg stars as former U.S. Marine Bob Lee Swagger, a sniper specialist who is recruited to help fold an assasination attempt on the U.S. President. However, it turns out to be a hoax, and Swagger is framed for an assasination attempt. He then is on a run for his life to clear his name. This film also stars Danny Glover, Michael Pena, Elias Kotas, and Kate Mara. The problem with this film lies in its payoff. The setup is done well. You have the setup. You have the one guy who believes Swagger. However, every thing seems to come to easy for the main character. If he needs a medical kit, he magically finds one in the trunk of a car. When he needs a knife.....oh look, there is one the dumpster. Need to get in and out of a house guarded by 100 soldiers...no problem. It's just got redundant. Then there is the ending that went on and on and on. This film had some promise, but quickly went sour after the setup. |
